Social Neuroscience, Social Pedagogy and Education

When I chose this postgraduate course, I knew exactly what to expect from it and what it has to offer me. From the interviews, I realized that finally my insistence to wait for it, for a year and a half since I graduated from the Pedagogical department to be announced again, was more than worth it! In the adverse conditions in the middle of the coronavirus outbreak, and with long distance lessons, the will of the professors managed to make my belief a reality. We all know that in everything, it is the people who make the difference and our professors prove to us every day that a good scientist can cope with any condition and the result is beyond all expectations. Why should one choose the Interdepartmental (Medical, Biological, Pedagogical NKUA) program "Social Neuroscience, Social Pedagogy and Education"?

1. For the Interdisciplinarity of the postgraduate, which makes it a pioneer for Greece but also abroad. I think of Social Pedagogy as a body with the heart of the Social Educator (Social Pedagogical Ethics, principles, values), with the Social Brain (Social Neuroscience), its vital organs (methodology, epistemology of Social Pedagogy) and other sciences that all together combine Theory with Practice and that can cope and solve serious problems by acting not only as interventions in the field, but also preventively!

2. For the high standard curriculum but also for the consistency and the ethos of the professors, thanks to them, who from the first steps, set the foundations and provide the tools to build a serious scientist, who learns to fall into the deep, to observe, to think critically , to reflect, to research properly, to envision and expand its horizons.

3. Because evolution is not only academic but also personal. Few months have passed since we enrolled in the graduate school and we all confirm that we are not the same people since we started. Because through continuous collaborations and interactions, we gain a common vision, we learn our limits, our strengths, our weaknesses and, willingly and unwillingly, we learn to exceed these limits, to become more tolerant, to take a step back when we have to, but also many steps forward to constantly become better.
