Social Neuroscience, Social Pedagogy and Education

Greece at the time of the coronavirus may have continued to be beautiful, with its islands and forests, it may even have breathed a little more when traffic was banned… But I could not see it…

At first, home alone did not seem like a good idea! I had learned to always be active and to fill in the gaps of the day with different chores and activities… I was also accepted to my master's degree, which I was looking forward to starting last year, before I even got a degree, however after a few postgraduate courses came the compulsory self-isolation.

Well, that is when, what I thought was a nightmare changed face! And it changed face thanks to my master's degree! Not only did I have to do something the hours I stayed home, I create, I am being educated, I change, I do self-criticism, I meet people, I practice, I learn so important and new topics, I cry, I laugh, I learn about myself better, I mature, I become an “idea machine “because I have the right stimuli…

This is not a simple postgraduate course, but a postgraduate course with a high level of studies, with international standards, such as corresponding postgraduate programs of the most prestigious universities in the world!

As for the period of confinement due to coronavirus, the professors immediately adapted to the new unpredictable condition, the students as well and the creativity, the experiential learning and the systematic training were not lost, despite the presence of the screen, and everyone's enthusiasm and production of new knowledge did not decrease, despite the distance.

The courses of the first semester of the postgraduate course (Social Pedagogy, Introduction to Neuroscience and Social Neuroscience, Methodology of Educational and Social Research, Social Informatics), interact and complement each other. And there we laugh, we cry from emotion, we exchange ideas, we disagree, we agree, we worry, we cooperate, we learn, we improve, and we change! We become others! This postgraduate course does not accidentally combine Social Pedagogy with Neuroscience! It combines emotion with knowledge, it combines changes in the ego of each brain and in the team! As a teacher I am very happy to have met these great people in the course. Of course, I do not mean only the professors, but each of my classmates individually. Everyone with their own little help gives another dimension to this Journey that we have started together.

As social educators of tomorrow we want to strengthen our role even more (as has been done in the international arena) and one day all together the new generation of Social Educators can do something big, to achieve this coveted social and educational change!

Although I did not have the opportunity to travel to beautiful Greece during the coronavirus pandemic, I was able to make other very interesting spiritual journeys, thanks to the Interdepartmental Postgraduate course "Social Neuroscience, Social Pedagogy & Education"!
