Social Neuroscience, Social Pedagogy and Education

Looking at the world around you, what do you see? Is there anything you would like to change or leave everything as it is? Human societies need improvement and change. They need people who dream, envision and strive every day for a better world.

The postgraduate program "Social Neuroscience, Social Pedagogy and Education" offers significant supplies to the budding social educator, who is faced with age-old issues of concern to social and educational structures.

With "Social Pedagogy" you come in contact and embrace its values, principles, visions, goals, research and methodological capabilities and its actions and practices in different areas of application. You also research and study the social pedagogical programs that have been implemented in different countries over time, with the aim of your own contribution to relevant initiatives. You learn, in an experiential way, to face different socio-pedagogical problems, to create, organize and develop new socio-pedagogical preventive and interventionist practices and corresponding programs, utilizing the interdisciplinary links with Neuroscience, Research and Technology.

With the "Methodology of Educational and Social Research" you understand and study the various theories, methods and tools used for research, from which important results emerge for the situation under consideration. You learn to organize and conduct research in practice, in different socio-pedagogical spaces. As a social educator, it helps you study phenomena, compare situations, use the results and propose solutions for dealing with each issue.

In modern society, Technology has a strong impact on the life of the individual, a fact that carries risks. "Social Informatics" in relation to the Sciences of Education is the scientific association of ICT with various social and educational phenomena, in the module you learn how to contribute to the improvement of social and educational becoming. You use ICT to process and study new data and tackle socio-pedagogical problems.

For social progress and development to exist, the catalytic factor is the understanding of the structures and the functioning of the brain and the nervous system in general. With the "Introduction to Neuroscience and Social Neuroscience" the emphasis is given to the unique but also to the common characteristics of each person, which focus on their perceptions, emotions, relationships and behaviours. Every teacher and every person who works in any field, learns to take into account the social brain, in order to deal with each of their students and each person with they interact with as a separate entity with their own particularities, needs and choices.

Although I am in the first academic semester of the postgraduate program "Social Neuroscience, Social Pedagogy & Education", I am glad to realize that all these issues that concern me as a person and as a professional, I have the opportunity to know them better, to study them scientifically and to come out stronger, on a personal, scientific and professional level. By "strong" I want to state that I am being provided with knowledge, methods and tools that enrich and contribute effectively to my skills and actions as a person and as a social educator.
