Iro Potamousi has completed her BA at the Department of Sociology of the Panteios University, Greece and at the same time the facilitation school ANIMA. She completed her post-graduate studies at Warwick University in "Theatre/Drama in Education". She is a PhD candidate at the University of the Aegean in the Pedagogical Department of Primary Education with the subject "Citizenship Education, Experiential Learning, Religious Consciousness & Middle Adolescence".
She has worked in formal education as a sociologist and drama/theatre pedagogue and in non-formal education specializing in group dynamics, cooperation and group empowerment as well as social intervention and change. As a researcher and professional, she has collaborated with various organizations and universities in Greece and abroad (NKUA, AUTh, University of Warwick, Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts, Pedagogical University of Zurich, European Wergeland Center, National Theatre, Theater of the Neos Kosmos, UNHCR, Action Aid, KETHEA). Since 2019 she is the general director of Learn Inn EKPA, a continuing education and Lifelong Learning organization of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (www.learninn.gr).
She teaches in the Interdepartmental Postgraduate Program "Social Neuroscience, Social Pedagogy and Education" (Department of Primary Education NKUA, Medical School NKUA and Department of Biology NKUA) in the context of "Experiential Workshops, Seminars and Practical Exercises", with subjects: "Experiential learning and socio-pedagogical intervention: The inclusive approach" and "Techniques of socio-pedagogical awareness ". She teaches "Group Dynamics and Collaborative Relations" and "Facilitating Vulnerable Groups" in the Lifelong Learning program "Training in Animating and Empowering Groups" of the NKUA.
She has published scientific articles in international scientific journals, has participated as an author in volumes and scientific books with themes of social intervention, drama/theatre-pedagogical programs, research and experiential learning and the correlation of citizenship education with religious consciousness in Greek education. She is a peer reviewer in Education and Theatre Pedagogy journals (Research in Drama Education – Taylor & Francis and The International Journal of Assessment and Evaluation - The Learner Research Network) and a member of the Editorial Board of the “Education & Theater” magazine of the Panhellenic Theater Network in Education.
